Our Story

KeyPay is a cloud-based workforce management and payroll platform. In a single, integrated platform, KeyPay automates the flow of data from employees across rosters, timesheets, leave management, and reporting, providing full client visibility of the pay run at all times.

Launching in Australia in 2012, KeyPay dramatically changed the payroll landscape by offering clients a fully flexible, customisable solution catering to the diverse business needs of Australian businesses.

2010

The Start

Starting from humble beginnings in 2010, KeyPay was born when Phil Bernie and Richard McLean decided to create a more accessible version of payroll utilising the capacity of the “cloud” to make payroll easier for all to access.

2011

The Founders

In October 2011 KeyPay went to market with Paul Duran and Kristian Reynolds joining the founder group, with Webscale Pty Ltd becoming the intellectual owner of the KeyPay.

2012

The Market Fit

The private beta ran for 12 months and we applied all the user feedback to deliver the workflows you still see in the product today.  Since public release on the 1st of July 2012 we have invested heavily in our people and product, allowing us to deliver a truly unique end to end people management and payroll compliance tool unrivalled in the market.

KeyPay launched its biggest feature for the AU market to date. That is, a powerful pay conditions (i.e. award interpretation) system.

Australia ranks in the top 5 most complicated payroll systems in the world. KeyPay's award interpretation takes the headache out of manual interpretation, saving business countless hours and headaches.

Hot on the heels of award interpretation with pre-built awards KeyPay launches employee scheduling.

KeyPay Time and Attendance kiosk

KeyPay launches clock in/off web based kiosk for shift workers, eliminating the need for paper timesheets.

Clock Me In: Time and Attendance app

KeyPay introduces the Clock Me In iPad app, with the ability to capture a photo of each staff member.

Introducing WorkZone for iOS and Android Smart Phones

Employee Onboarding

Employers can say goodbye to the paperwork associated with hiring new employees. Employee onboarding lets employers manage the onboarding process from start to finish right within KeyPay.

Adding expenses via the employee portal

Employees can now submit expense claims via the employee portal and have those expense claims approved by a manager so they’re ready to process in the next pay run.
